Required Skills and Experience

High Speed Digital Printed Circuit Design Experience using Surface Mount Technology

Must have PCI, Compact PCI, VME design expertise

Must have recent design experience with at least two high speed RISC processors

Must have recent design experience with ASIC or FPGA devices

Familiarity with SCSI, FibreChannel, ATA, IDE a definite plus

Familiarity with digital video, audio codecs, MPEG, JPEG2000 or Wavelet a definite plus

Ability to communicate design details verbally and in writing. Must have excellent written communication skills

Ability to use logic analyzers and oscilloscopes a must

Must be fluent in Verilog and/or VHDL and ModelSim or equivalent

Excellent diagnostic skills and attention to detail mandatory

Must have a passion for getting the job done on time and right the first time

Speaks clearly and effectively in a variety of settings.

Works productively with others in a team environment.

Ability to tolerate programmers and smile accordingly is a definite requirement!

Essential Duties

Reviews System Requirements and extracts hardware functionality

Performs preliminary analysis, functional decomposition and organizes PCB architecture

Supports interchanges and technical meetings with customers

Performs component selection

Performs schematic capture and supervises PCB layout

Performs ASIC or FPGA design, simulation and testing

Assists in Design and Factory Acceptance Testing

Designs and Constructs Diagnostic Tests

Assists in transition from engineering to manufacturing

Supports customer training and education

Supports manufacturing and production phases

Must be available for occasional travel

Acceptable Experience and Training

Five years of firmware engineering experience and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
