Firmware Engineer - Irvine, CA, U.S.A.

Required Skills and Experience

Advanced C/C++ programming skills in two or more real time multitasking environments

Must have experience with device driver construction and debugging

Must be able to write Windows NT or W2K Test Drivers and Applications

Familiarity with PCI, SCSI or FibreChannel a definite plus

Familiarity with digital video, audio codecs, MPEG, JPEG2000 or Wavelet a definite plus

Ability to communicate design details verbally and in writing. Must have excellent written communication skills

Ability to use logic analyzers and oscilloscopes a must

Must be able to read schematics

Adept in at least one Integrated Debugging Environment based upon an In Circuit Emulator or BDM Probe

Excellent diagnostic skills and attention to detail mandatory

Must have a passion for getting the job done on time and right the first time

Speaks clearly and effectively in a variety of settings.

Works productively with others in a team environment.

Ability to read Verilog or VHDL a plus

Structured or Object Oriented Design a plus. Round-trip engineering experience a plus.

Essential Duties

Reviews System Requirements and extracts firmware functionality

Performs preliminary analysis, functional decomposition and organizes firmware architecture

Supports interchanges and technical meetings with customers

Performs detailed firmware design and develops firmware structure

Performs coding and unit testing

Participates in software, hardware, firmware integration effort

Assists in Design and Factory Acceptance Testing

Designs and Constructs Diagnostic Tests

Assists in transition from engineering to manufacturing

Supports customer training and education

Supports manufacturing and production phases

Must be available for occasional travel

Acceptable Experience and Training

Five years of firmware engineering experience and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
